Secret of Successful Marriage

Posted on August 8th, 2008 by Ronel Villanueva in Marraige

Witnessing couple exchanging married vows is a romantic and memorable scenario indeed. I enjoy listening to the warm greeting and best wishes being offered to the new couple. “Congratulations’ to the groom and “Best wishes” to the bride are the commonly used words during wedding. “May you have a successful marriage!” is the wish given by one of the guest that catches my attention. The same wish I and my wife received during our wedding years back then. But when can you say that you have a successful  marriage? Is there a secret formula to have as successful  marriage? These are the questions that came to my mind when I received the wish to have a successful marriage.

Being married for years, I now believe that marriage is successful whenever you comply with the vow you made during your wedding. Vow that states commitment to take each other as husband and wife.  Wow stating promises  that you will love, comfort, honor each other and keep one another in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer.  Most of all, the declaration you made that you will only faithful to your partner till death do you part.

Yes, I really believe that fulfilling the vow is an indication of successful marriage. However, since we are all human, we may sometimes fell short in doing our commitment. In order to correct are shortcomings, we should put God as the center of our marriage and understand the witnesses of our partner.

I may not be the expert to mention the secret of successful marriage, but let me share my opinion and belief regarding this matter. The secret of successful marriage is to (1) put God in the center or your marriage, (2) Loving your partner without any condition and expectation, (3) Giving your partner enough space to breath and develop his or herself in his or her own way, (4) Maintain open communication, and (5) always express your love and respect to each other.

Come  and join me now as we apply the secret I know towards Successful Marriage.
