When Dating, Protect 4 Things…
Following up on a recent post about Boomer singles…
The Olympian recently published an article by Tom Black that encouraged older singles to protect 4 key things while dating.
What were those 4 things?
- Your Heart
While loneliness is difficult, having one’s heart broken at our age is worse. Be careful where you allow your heart to lead you. Trust your instincts.
You may be longing for companionship, but this is no reason to let your guard down. If a person seems too good to be true, he/she probably is!
- Your Health
With the proliferation of male enhancement drugs like Viagra, Levitra and Cialis, some older men think they’re the king stud and expect sex like dessert after dinner. The danger of getting a STD exists among the older set. And it’s not just men who transmit STDs. Women also can be carriers. Both sexes need to be cautious.
The risk of getting HIV or AIDS is increasing among people over 50, so please don’t feel rushed when it comes to intimacy. Be safe and learn the facts.
- Your Drink
One woman had a couple of dates with a perfect gentleman. Then, he invited her to his house for dinner. After dining and nice conversation, she woke up nude at three in the morning in his bed. He had placed a date-rape drug in her wine glass. Not in a bar, not by a stranger, but by a man she trusted and enjoyed.
Yes, date rape can (and does) happen. Never let your drink — no matter what it is! — out of your site.
- Your Assets
Widows are particularly vulnerable. Many are lonely and their husbands might have made the financial decisions. Mr. Right comes along, gains a widow’s love and trust, and offers to help with finances. If that sounds familiar, have your new beau checked out by a private investigator.
Often, the Internet is used for these “sweetheart scams.” Don’t be fooled! Always stay in control of your money. Use your head (not your heart) when making important financial decisions.
